Back Street Barber // Vanishing Trade

Haiiiii people i'm finally back again lol

been very very busy with school work like fyp, smp, portfolio etc urgh and im currently on break for 2 weeks but these 2 weeks macham no break liddat lol

the title of this post speaks for itself. recently I've been filming for my project & we are doing on a documentary film. and we have decided to do on the topic of The Vanishing Trade!

It really aint easy to find such trades as Singapore is getting more and more modernize with such a competitive society!

However, we managed to find a back alley barber. It is the very last few street barber in SG so I'm very very happy that at my age i'm still able to see it (lol)

Located at Jalan Sultan, the back alley of Aliwal Street. 

The shop has a tent, chairs, a mirror & a cabinet for the barber to put his tools 

He is Mr Tan & he's already 69 years old. According to Uncle Tan, he has been in this line for 50 + years & has been holding his business for the laast 2 century at aliwal street. He opens at 8am to 5.30pm daily except Wed & Sun. 

Look at how charming Uncle Tan is! Hahaha. 

Unfortunately he only cut hair for the male :( if not I surely let him cut my hair! 

Not only cutting of hair, he provide other services like trimming of facial hair, nose hair as well! all for the price of $6 only! omg how cheap right now where can you even find such a cheap haircut!

During filming, we stayed throughout with Uncle Tan (altho we felt we were a lil pestering lol) through rain & shine. hahaha. There was once it was raining damn heavily, not much customers only a few. Despite the rain, it goes to show how loyal his regular customers were in coming down just to get a haircut! 

So, to my male friends out there I wish you guys would go down to Uncle Tan shop if you are planning to get a haircut! :) It would be a really really good experience for you since its a back alley barber & this trade seems to be vanishing soon altho I heard there's a few shops reliving a barber shop but I just felt that the experience is not the same as the real one in a back alley right hahaha

Hello!! 

Internship is finally over! Hip hip hooray hahaha but what's next would be....FYP omg 
but nevermind I miss school...food I meant :)

During this period of 4 months internship, I really learnt many things. Good or bad things, all gave me an experience & how the real industry works. 
& I think my feelings became numb alr through the nags & scoldings by my supervisor everyday hahaha oh well

in an early celebration at shabu shabu with my family for my ending of internship hahaha just kidding

so right after intern ends, in need of a very short getaway~ 

oh, & my sis is finally back from the states!! :)

look what i saw ytd haha that guy lying there bought his rabbits out how cute! 

approx 5 to 6 rabbits! 

Okay so I have about 3 months of holidays woohoo hahaha really need to work & earn money alr haha

Hi!!
Year 2 has indeed ended and what's next would be internship. To me, it sounds really haunting. No idea why but prolly it could be that we will REALLY be stepping into the industry, society, the real world. haha although it's 16 weeks which we couldn't really say its a short one or a long time but 4 months...haha lets just hope that year3 will be a fast and good one!

And after-which... FYP will be up next. Whoa jinjja~ and i'm still hoping year 3 will pass by fast and good but definitely there'd be busy-ness which I cannot avoid D: haha but its better than me idling around doing nothing la haha!

Yeah, so what i'm thinking is ... "I WILL JUST WRAP UP MY WHOLE YEAR 3 AND EAT IT UP LIKE I'M EATING THE KFC BANDITO POCKETT. CONFIRM DAEBAK!"

Then maybe when i'm missing my poly life , I'll just unwrap it and just think about those good times in poly! Prolly also unwrap to my sec life, my pri life, my kindergarten life, my nursery life, to when I was born lol just unwrap all the good times in my whole life la :D

HAHAHA oh and talking about the kfc bandito pocket, I finally ate it today ever since dunno when I last had it!! omb damn good the chicken hahaha maybe i'm a wrap fan too yayyyyy haha!

yeobo's birthday!!!!!!!!

so today is the 8th of march which is yeobo's birthday!!!!!

to be exact, i know her ever since sec 1 so it has been like...6 years of friendship and counting !!

 the 2009 us! 

and the now us!! 

sorry i shaked the camera hahaha 

it took us countless times to snap a good one lol 

oh!! and we went lolas cafe @ kovan ytd!!!

finally got to try their desserts ^^ 

their dessert was actually not bad but the nutella cake was so sweet haha im not a sweet-tooth person

then we went to the kovan hawker centre and eat AHAHA and we talked until like there's no tmrw because we were on some interesting topics lol 

Adventure day!

Hello! Y2S2 has ended so which means...Y3 is cominggggg. deng deng deng deeeeng~

anw...to enjoy my hols before intern starts, i went to bukit timah railway station with chaggiya!
it was damn hot la but since yolo, we walked and walked like dora the explorer hahaha and walk and walk till we don't feel like walking then we sat down on the ground and chatted. well of course there were some noise in the bushes which we don't know when and what animal might come out and capture us lol but we just sat there and enjoyed the naturee haha. oh and we even saw a half egg shell and we suspect its those snake egg? haha afterall this isn't something that we will do everyday like taking a super long walk in the "forest" and visiting such unique places which not much people will come right!
of course we got tanner now after seeing my skin tone haha but it was fun! its rare that we can actually still find such places in singapore and once you are in bukit timah railway station, you won't feel like you are in singapore la like you are in some angmoh country hahaha

it was a really good experience if you want to sweat it all out and just walk a lot LOL and most importantly, take a good break from everything that you have now and put them aside first. enjoy the nature :)

Let's go back to last friday. ME and yeobo went all the way down from woodlands to katong to watch my bieber movie!! :D

if you watch his movie, it would totally change your mindset of him because everything is so real and genuine...

after that, me and yeobo were just walking outside the lane and we spotted pancake shop!!

eheh so we ate and their pancakes are actually quite good! 

then went to find out how we can get home from there and we walk to and fro to and fro lol finally found the bus stop 

ending off with us! ^^

since school has started for me, i really hadn't have the time to update my blog as much as i could :(
somemore ut2 is here T_T SOMEONE PLS HELP ME :(

i did like 3 designs for the GD website today =.= and then study for afm because AFM UT IS LIKE FREAKING TMRW?!?!?! :(
posting at this time is really not a thing for me :( gonna go sleep soon anyway.
I think i type too many ":(" uh HAHAHA omg but on the side note hor, bieber movie is coming out on this thurs!!!! yay!!! :D and at least i have yeobo to watch it with me!! ^^
